We have an abundance of open space and trails available to use. Remember to follow social distancing guidelines and respect everyone’s space. 


  • Walk, run or ride a bike on the Hike & Bike Trail
  • Kick a ball with your family in an open area
  • Play horseshoes at Ringer Alley Horseshoe Pits (Located at Love Street Park)
  • Shoot some hoops at a basketball court
  • Hit some balls at the softball fields
  • Fish and/or kayak at Sunshine Lake
  • Play disc golf at Lake Weatherford

To help promote a safe and healthy community, we have canceled all the following events, programs and rentals up until May 1st:

  • All Heritage Park public and private events
  • Spring Adult Softball and Spring Blastball programs
  • Rentals of pavilions and city buildings, renters may reschedule or be refunded
  • Chandor Gardens daily access and rentals

The Weatherford Parks, Recreation and Special Events Department is committed to enriching the quality of life through exceptional programs, parks and facilities while preserving the community’s natural environment for the enjoyment of current and future citizens.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The Parks and Recreation Board advises the City Council in matters pertaining to the Parks and Recreation Department. This includes recommending fees and charges for recreation facilities, programs and park development; establishing Park and Recreation policies and procedures; receiving suggestions and feedback from citizens relating to Parks and Recreation; recommending development or expansion of parks, facilities and programs; recommending rules, regulations and guidelines
governing the use of parks.
