COME CELEBRATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BANKHEAD HIGHWAY
Texas Highway No. 1 was built to be part of the Bankhead National Highway, the nation's first "all-weather" coast-to-coast highway. It avoided the mountains and winter weather of more northern latitudes and could be relied on for year-round travel. On September 23-24, we celebrate Weatherford's connection to this historic highway with events that commemorate the 1920's and highlight the touring days of old.
